Edwards appointed Chair of the Department of Statistical Sciences and Operations Research

David J. Edwards, Ph.D., is a professor of statistics and has been a faculty member since 2008. He is an industrial statistician with a research focus on the design and analysis of experiments (particularly experiments focused on optimization and feature selection). He has been PI, co-PI and/or co-investigator on research funded by NASA, NSF, NIH, the Jeffress Trust, the Simons Foundation and the Richmond Police Department. He is also affiliate research faculty in the Center for Pharmaceutical Engineering and Sciences. Edwards has directed or co-directed eight Ph.D. dissertations, 11 M.S. theses and served on numerous dissertation and thesis committees. He is the editor-in-chief of Quality Engineering, a journal devoted to new engineering methods ready for immediate industrial application and is a past associate editor for Technometrics.
